Stakeholders identified prayer as most potent tool in crime tackling across the country.

Just as Officers of Nigeria Police Force, Mowe and Ibafo Division, Ogun State, Nigeria have reaffirmed that prayer is antidote to crime prevention.

Therefore, they have added spirituality among their tool in order to tackle wave of crime within the environment.

The Division Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Mowe command, CSP Folakemi Afeniforo, while speaking during the interactive session, tagged Policing in Godliness and Integrity organised by Paragon Chaplain and Humanitarian Mission (PCHM) which took place in Mowe Police premises, on Saturday 18 May 2024, maintain that peaceful environment can only be achieved by prayer.

Explaining that praying to God is the greatest tool that can help officers for better discernment, Afeniforo stressed that without fear of God by policemen they can be derailed in their sense of judgement when issues on sophisticated and digital-oriented crimes are reported for action from the general public.

Noting that new dimensional and technological crime are daily upfolding, the DPO charged participants in the workshop to imbibe prayer as good compliment in arrest and prevention of crime.

On his own part, ACP (retd) Christopher Ogar, pointed out that police officers need to involve God in all their operations to ensure preventive and arresting of crime wherever it such might be.

Reminding the participants of the need to have successful policing through dependence on prayer, Ogar, the retired ACP told them that police officers need to seek directive from God to achieve pull protective and for arrest of crime.

Similarly, on his part, the Lagos State Commandant, Paragon and Humanitarian Mission,

Chaplain Adegbite John noted that with the level of crime today men and officers of the Nigerian police should arm themselves with dependence on God.

According to Adegbite, “Head knowledge by uniform people can confuse officer who is not backed up with the fear of God.

In his welcome address, Chaplain Oludairo Moses explained that the interactive session was meant to review and preview works of the officers within the region and in the country in order to have successful policing in the nationwide.

Oludairo who is the Zonal Commandant of PCHM, said the meeting was also meant to address the general public over their misconception about police officers.

According to him, most Nigerians use to see and believe that police officers are indiscipline set of people base on the activities of few bad eggs among them.

The participants who went home with the reassurance that Nigeria Police officers are some of the best set all over the world were however told that an officer without prayer altar will definitely have altered operation.
