TOPIC FOR TODAY: 4-8-21: Leadership Lessons from Bible characters 4

By Dr D.K Olukoya, General Overseer MFM worldwide

NOW TAKING PLACE 2ND SATURDAY OF AUGUST,

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 4-6

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 11:23-29

23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.

24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;

25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.

29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

MEMORY VERSE: “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” – John 10:11

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
THE SERVANT RIDING ON THE HORSE OF YOUR DESTINY IS DESTROYED NOW, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

The MESSAGE:

An outstanding attribute of great leaders is that they are usually willing to stick up and sacrifice their all for their people. When God called Moses in Exodus 3, he gave several excuses on his unwillingness to carry out the divine assignment. God went on to convince him and he eventually agreed.

Moses turned out to be one of the greatest leaders in history. His people, the Israelites, had been in bandage for 430 years and God enlisted him to lead them to freedom. Moses had great faith in Jehovah and great love for his people.

He faced Pharaoh with God’s message, “Let my people go.” As a leader he bore the burden of leading a stiff-necked people who annoyed God several times because of their unbelief, ingratitude and sins. Moses had to intercede for them and told God to wipe him out of His book instead of destroying the Israelites. He was a man who knew how to stand in the gap.

Jesus also stands out as a leader who sacrificed all for mankind. He is the Great Shepherd who gave His life as ransom to redeem His sheep. No leader will ever be able to match the feat that Jesus performed.

All had sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. God’s unparalleled love made Him to give His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross at Calvary. Jesus did not only give Himself, He gave His all.

Similarly, other leaders like Nehemiah and Gideon paid the price of leadership by sacrificing all for the cause they believed and the people they were called to lead. They confronted and conquered formidable oppositions and earned victory and glory for God.

The same is true of Joshua, Moses’ successor, Hezekiah, Jehoshaphat, Deborah and Barak. The list is endless. Beloved, self-sacrifice is the price of great leadership.

Are you willing to love those you lead as Jesus loved us and gave His life for us?
