MFM Topic for Thur 22 Sept 22:-walk in the Spirit

WELCOME to MFM Devotional, 22-09-22

PRAISE & WORSHIP:
Christ is our cornerstone

1 Christ is our cornerstone,
on him alone we build;
with his true saints alone
the courts of heav’n are filled.
On his great love our hopes we place
of present grace and joys above.

2 Here may we gain from heav’n
the grace which we implore,
and may that grace, once giv’n,
be with us evermore
until that day when all the blest
to endless rest are called away.

3 Oh, then, with hymns of praise
these hallowed courts shall ring;
our voices we will raise
the Three in One to sing
and thus proclaim in joyful song,
both loud and long, that glorious name

MEMORY VERSE:
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
Galatians 5:16

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
A life without the Holy Spirit is heading towards destruction.

PROPHETIC WORD:
I decree upon your life that you shall win the battle of the flesh, in the name of Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 51:17 – Isaiah 54; Ephesians 1; Psalm 109:21-31

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:1-16:-
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

22-09-22 MESSAGE:
The most important encounter in the life of a believer is the encounter with the Holy Spirit. The disciples walked with Jesus for about three years but it was not sufficient for the task ahead of them. Jesus told them that after He had gone, they would need to wait for the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

John the Baptist cried out in Matthew 3:11, “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.”

Even in the book of Acts, Apostle Paul met certain Christians and asked them if they had received the Holy Ghost since they believed. It is a requirement for every believer. One of the significant signs in the life of a true believer is the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does the work of transformation. The Holy Spirit empowers us to be like Christ and to manifest the power of Christ.

The Holy Spirit comforts the believer and strengthens him in times of persecution and trials. The Holy Spirit builds our character to bear the fruit of the Spirit. This work of the Holy Spirit was first described in Genesis 1: 2-3 “…And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” God would never carry out any operation without His Spirit. It is therefore a tragedy to call yourself a Christian without the power of the Holy Spirit in you.

Many Christians ignore the place of the Holy Spirit; they stop at accepting Jesus and as such there is no spiritual growth. The world is full of so many carnal and baby Christians. Some know that there is a Holy Spirit but they have denied Him access into their lives.

In John 3:5, “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Jesus made it clear that without the Holy Spirit, you cannot make heaven, because it is the Holy Spirit that produces the kind of life that can make heaven.
