PRAISE & WORSHIP:

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All

Romans 8:7-8 “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God neither indeed can be, so then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

It is outrightly impossible to mix the old nature with the new. It displeases God.

I command every manifestation of the flesh to die in your life, in the name of Jesus.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:1-14

We were all sinners but found mercy and received grace from God through Christ Jesus. We are called to grow in the Lord into the full stature of Christ. This explains that Christianity is not a destination. You haven’t arrived, rather you have just started a journey into eternity. A journey full of obstacles, distractions and dangers, yet, you are not atone. Neither can you overcome these hurdles except by the Holy Spirit, the enabling Power of God with us and indwelling in us. By strength shall no man prevail!

The old man is your old nature before you got saved. Satan will do everything to ensure that you keep some of this old nature alive, such as pride, anger, malice, selfishness, unforgiveness, and every bad attitude. The flesh is that natural part of man that has been in control of his life before the salvation experience. No sooner than you are born again, you must endeavour not only to subdue, rather, kill the power of the flesh. Else, it swings into contention, competition and unhealthy rivalry with the Spirit as soon as you begin to attain maturity in the Lord.

Unfortunately, many believers in Christ are quick to forget that they owe some responsibilities to God. Failure to fulfil these obligations calls for some divine sanctions. You cannot be a friend of God and yet a friend of the world, or slave to unrighteousness.

Today’s memory verse makes us understand that anyone living in carnality shall not please God. Therefore, you must endeavour to live in the Spirit and not fulfil the lust of the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21 The flesh generates the works of the flesh, as stated in Gal.5:19-21 , which are the manifestations of the old man. This is expressly against the fruit of the Spirit, listed in Gal.5:22-23.

The activities of the old man destroy and disconnect you from God while the fruit of the Spirit endows you with godly virtues and improves your spiritual health. The flesh leads to spiritual decay and death while the fruit of the Spirit leads you to abundant life in Christ, both here on earth and in heaven.

Make a choice, therefore, to either pamper the flesh and its vanities or embrace the Spirit and all that it offers you here and beyond. Decide to live a life that is pleasing unto God, and the Spirit of God shall set you free from the law of sin and death.

MORNING

1.    Holy Spirit, crush every activity of the flesh in my life to death, in the name of Jesus.

2.    I speak death to the root of carnality in my life, come out and die, in the name of Jesus.

3.    By the blood of Jesus, l am delivered from the power of sin and iniquity, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4.    Power to live above sin and temptation, come upon me now, in the name of Jesus.

5.    My Father, Your Power, take me away from sin, in the name of Jesus.

6.    I shall be a God pleaser and not a man-pleaser, in the name of Jesus.

7.    Father, deliver me from the captivity of the flesh and lead me by Your Spirit always, in the name of Jesus.
