Despite failure to pay N30,000 by some govs, Gov Sanwo Olu increases civil servants’ salary

Despite inability of some state governors to pay National Minimum Wage of N30,000, Governor  Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has promised increment of salary for state workers.

 

Sanwo-Olu, announced the salary increment for workers in the state public office today, Tuesday 4 October 2022, during his courtesy visit to the Head, Office of Public Service in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

The Governor who noted that the planned salary increase was in view of the current inflation in the country, also commended the workforce for their support, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also approved a 25 per cent increase in core establishment duty allowance while announcing that before the end of the month the first phase of 100 vehicles for directors in the public service would be delivered.

The governor, who was accompanied by some of his cabinet members and the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said his administration was committed to improving the welfare of workers and the prompt payment of pensions to retirees in the civil service.

Speaking earlier, the Head of Service, thanked the Governor for fulfilling his promises during his first working visit to the secretariat, urging him to further address some issues that had to do with the environment, allowances, and provision of more staff buses among others.
