The acceptance of the apology made by the management of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, maker of Peak, over the offensive advert by Christian Association of Nigeria [CAN], is a reminder of the word, by English poet, Alexander Pope: to err is human, to forgive is divine.

CAN-President-Daniel-Okoh

Even as the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria [CAN], Rev Daniel Okoh, on behalf of all Christians, did not only accepted the apology made by the management of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, but also commended them for taking responsibility and also for issuing a public apology following the Good Friday social media advertorial for Peak Milk.

It would be recalled that the Director of  FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc (Corporate Affairs), Ore Famurewa, in swift reaction, expressed remorse in a letter to the President of CAN saying: “We hereby restate our commitment to our unwavering mission of nurturing Nigeria while maintaining the respect of all religious laws, tenets and guidelines.

“Once again, please accept our deepest apology and pledge to prevent a reoccurrence of such in the future. Do accept the assurances of my esteemed regards,” Famurewa said.

It would be recalled that CAN expressed displeasure over the controversial Good Friday social media advertorial for Peak Milk.

CAN President, Rev Daniel Okoh described the advertisement as “insensitive, offensive, and totally unacceptable.”

The said advert had the photograph of a dented tin of Peak Milk, punctured in two places, with a nail dripping milk, lying beside it was captioned: Bruised and Pierced for us. #GoodFriday, which was using the crucifixion of Jesus Christ as a metaphor to promote their product on Good Friday.
