Following the ongoing leadership struggle within Trade Union Congress (TUC), taking place in National Industrial Court, Lagos, Concerned Affiliates has once again expressed their minds over what it described “desecrate the temple of justice by flagrantly disobeying the court orders.”

Why the President of PENGASSAN, Comrade Festus Osifo told allcitynews.ng that they did not disobey the court order but they are being governed by the Industrial Court in Abuja which gave them the go-ahead to conduct the election.

Addressing media in Lagos, the Chairman of the Concerned Affiliates, Comrade Emmenuel Jaja lamented the continued disobedience of the court order, which retraint the union from elective activities.

In Jaja’s word, “it is most regrettable and disheartening that a Labour Centre like ours (TUC) could deliberately desecrate the temple of justice by flagrantly disobeying its orders.

“We considered it absolutely necessary to draw the attention of the public especially the federal and state government, and all employers of labour in Nigeria that the purported National belegates conterence of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday 19th July 2022 is a nuility and theretore, the products of the Conference should not by any means be recognised as the leadership of TUC as the so-called Delegates Conference contradicted all forms, rules and laws guiding the Congress Delegates Conferences.

“Since this National Industrial Court is the last hope of all Trade Unions and Labour Centres to seek justice and redress on all Industrial relation matters, the Concerned Affiliates believe the court will do justice to the issue at stake.”

Meanwhile, PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifo who was elected as TUC President whilst the court process is yet to be dispensed off in Lagos, when reacting to why his group disobeyed the court and went ahead with the election and even held its NAC meeting on Wed 10 August 2022, told allcitynews.ng that his group is operating with that order from Abuja Court.

The accelerated case was adjourned to August 24 by the trial judge, R.H. Gwandu in Lagos Division of the National Industrial Court (NIC).
