House of Representatives hopeful in Alimosho Federal Constituency

1. HON OLUFEMI ADEBANJO (EYES OPEN)

The favourite aspirant of the Rauf Aregbesola led divide in Alimosho federal constituency All Progressives Congress, (APC) family, his third term campaign is anchored on getting a principal position in Nigeria’s House of Representatives post 2023. He is the incumbent who has warmed the seat eight long years. His campaign position and persuasion is not standing on any known fact, but he is the choice of Alimosho G-18 the ruling unit of Alimosho Mainstream led by Aregbesola, but coordinated by Alhaji Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo. The Ilishan Remo Ogun State born legislator has no chance of clinching any principal position in the next session of the national assembly: given the fact that Lagos State possibility of producing the President in 2023 in the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has neutralized this assumption; or is Eyes Open camp working against the Tinubu presidential agenda. Moreover Hon Adebanjo is adjudged as a lack lustre representative, whose combined performances in the field of law making and constituency representation is below average in content and deliveries. Yet he remains the desired and cherished aspirant given his loyalty to the Alimosho G-18, Eyes Open minus is the fact that he will be a hard sell and he is not an Awori, Alimosho’s aboriginal stock. Eyes Open and his backers are banking on blanket return for all the members of Lagos caucus in the House of Representatives.

2. HON OMOTAYO OYELADUN ODUNTAN (O BABY)

is a political mother figure in Alimosho having served three terms in the Lagos State House of Assembly, leaving as the Chief Whip in 2019. She lost her bid for Alimosho federal constituency to Hon Olufemi Adebanjo (Eyes Open) in the primary of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), in the last election cycle. A leader in the factional Alimosho Veterans group, Hon Oduntan is the State Woman Leader of the ABAT Movement one of the independent campaign groups promoting the presidential aspiration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the movement was established and is being funded by Lagos Speaker Rt Hon Mudashiru Idowu Obasa. The aged Awori politician is beholden totally to Speaker Obasa and her Alimosho Veterans group, she is one of those who faulted and failed to structure her faction and her sister associate faction, the Alimosho Liberation group into one body, as directed by the Speaker. If granted the position “O Baby” will focus on her Alimosho Veterans group to the regret of both Alimosho Liberation and Alimosho Mainstream groups. If it is the call of the Alimosho Veterans to call it in O Baby will waltz into the green chamber easily, this office is political eclipse for her.

3. Mr YUSUF OLADIPIPO OLASENI (PiPO)

Young, rich and suave peace builder is a new entrant in Alimosho politics: his outfit The Yusuf Oladipipo Olaseni Foundation has been making waves in the constituency, some leaders would want him to wait and learn the ropes of local politics, but the youths and all others wings of the party in the Alimosho federal constituency would want to give him the chance and place their bets on him, as it was with the emergence of Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon (Yayi) and it paid off handsomely for all. PiPO has maintained fidelity with all factions in Alimosho Constituency and has worked so hard to bring all sides together with his “Alimosho Unite” campaign, that saw him hosting all the 36 Councillors in Alimosho federal constituency, fully fund a 40 man pan Alimosho All Progressives Congress, (APC), members to the Emerging Leaders Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the nomination of beneficiaries into his Owo PiPO capital grant initiative were drawn from all the APC factions in the Constituency, this is testimony to his pro unity lien. The Awori politician having used his personal fund so far, party members, party officers and public analysts are optimistic that, the political JJC who completed the newly commissioned Mosan Okunola LCDA APC Secretariat, will deploy public office patronages equitably among all party members, factions and the larger constituents. He is accused as been tied to the apron string of a political wizard in the constituency Alhaji Yisa Yusuf Ajiboye, (YY), however PiPO has repeatedly said he came into Alimosho APC family via YY’s network and neither YY as a person, nor members of “The YY School of Thought”, has stopped him from making cross interactions, cross appeals and cross networking politically and socially with other groups or factions in the constituency, The Mosan Okunola ABAT Movement Coordinator grand goal is a united party and prosperous members, Olaseni an Awori is a tool for now and the future, if harnessed.

4. HON ABIODUN RASHEED MAFE (O MARVELOUS)

Former deputy executive secretary, vice chairman and subsequently two term chairman of Mosan Okunola LCDA is a political loner in the Alimosho federal constituency political space. Mafe severed links with Alimosho Mainstream when he lost the House of Representatives ticket to Hon Femi Adebanjo (Eyes Open) in 2015. He loosely linked up with the Alimosho Veterans promoting Akinwunmi Ambode reelection as Lagos State Governor in the 2019 general election window, but abandoned the group mid way and hedged into the Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu Campaign Organization (BOSCO): Alimosho Mainstream championed his removal from the campaign outfit for now House of Assembly hopeful Barr Rotimi Ogunwuyi (O’Legal). O Marvelous as he is fondly called by his hangers on: hope for compensatory commissioner slot dematerialized with the reappointment of Pharm Uzamat Akinbile Yusuf from his Alimosho 02 state constituency as HE Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu constituted his cabinet. He networked to emerge as Alimosho federal constituency representation on the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC), state working committee failed with the selection of Chief Babatunde Sunday Aboyade JP as Vice Chairman Lagos West Senatorial District. The Ijebu Ode Ogun State hailed politician latest quest for the national assembly is anchored on his personal relationship with Senator Remi Tinubu whom he boasted has promised him the ticket.

5. HON GANIYU AYUBA (KK)

He is one of the serving Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu. The retired civil servant of Awori origin is perceived as aloof and detached from party members and the Alimosho public. As a serving state cabinet member his only touch with constituents, is the sealing of thousands of properties converted from residential to commercial purposes in the constituency by his ministry. Party leaders, members and professionals had no reprieve from this exercise, most painful was the fact that professionals in the party were not selected as consultants in the multi-billion naira project. KK as he is fondly called hardly picks calls, reply to text messages and imperially walks past members and officers of the party. He is said to have said that “as one of the most senior Awori politicians and current public office holder transition to the green chamber is fiat accomplished”. This is due to his closeness to Alimosho All Progressives Congress APC Apex Leader Alhaji Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo and members of the Alimosho Mainstream apex body the Alimosho G-18. Mayor KK chances gets brighter if Eyes Open loses his bid for the coveted position, he is the desired alternative.

6. ALHAJI PRINCE IDRIS BALOGUN (OLUOMO KAFATA)

Dyed in the wool leader of the Alimosho Liberation faction of the All Progressives Congress APC in Alimosho federal constituency is one the early campaigners to represent the constituency in the green chamber. The Awori blue blood and businessman has offered serial philanthropic assistances exclusively and largely to members of his faction the Liberationists and natives; his campaign organization had to be reorganized recently as non Aworis left in droves. He is a known supporter of the Lagos4Lagos Movement led by Mr Olajide Adeniran aka Jandor, he however did not defect with him to the major opposition party in Lagos State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), He and his close ally Otunba Abiodun Ejigbadero are confidants of Lagos State Speaker Rt Hon Mudashiru Idowu Obasa, having fell out with the Alimosho federal constituency APC Apex Leader Alhaji Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo, whose sole offense was not making them members of the Alimosho G-18 the apex APC organ in the Constituency. Effort by Oluomo Kafata who on appreciation visit to Alimosho Obas meeting to thank them for their supports during the rites of passage of his late dad the late Onisheri of Isheri, was stopped from turning the gathering into a campaign session for his House of Representatives aspiration, he met a brick wall as the esteemed traditional rulers forbid him from derailing the purpose of his admission into the gathering. The Alimosho Veterans leaders who went with him were embarrassed he ambushed them at what he pre-informed them was purely an appreciation cultural outing. Oluomo Kafata’s free school ride initiative is appreciated and loved by all, but his lack of basic education is a big minus, his extremely poor command of English language is a great concern for all. Law making post 2023 will require basic communication skill in English language, sadly Oluomo Kafata is completely deficit in this area. Oluomo Kafata’s militant approach to issues is also a big minus for the property developer, hotelier and petroleum products vendor. Zoning does not favour him also his constituency 02 has the most senior party officers in the Constituency Babatunde Sunday Aboyade JP an Assembly man Kehinde Joseph and Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon Yayi. It will be a misnomer for his Egbe Idimu to produce the House of Representatives member.

7. AMBASSADOR KAOKAB IBRAHIM AROWORATIRA

He is a United Kingdom based scholar and businessman, his quest for the House of Representatives in Alimosho federal constituency is anchored on putting Alimosho on the law making trophy on his canvass. The Awori PhD holder and “camera hugger” campaign is centrally hinged on taking photos with all notable politicians in the party. The self styled ambassador is linked with the Alimosho Mainstream but he discreetly fraternizes with other factions. He is one of the leading aspirant when it comes to pasting of campaign posters across the Lagos most populated constituency and on the social media platforms.

8. HON SHAKIRU YUSUF (OLUOMO IPAJA)

He is one of the eleven Councillors that pioneered local legislation in the Alimosho LGA, this was before the creation of additional five LCDAs in 2003 in the constituency, he has served in various political offices, culminating in his two term chairman of Ayobo Ipaja LCDA. He is the political leader of APC in Ayobo Ipaja LCDA and statutory member of the Alimosho G-18. A performer as Council chair and of the Awori stock. His chances are bright, his deficit is not being a cross over aspirant that other factions may not work with, especially as he is the arrow head of the move that saw to the political liquidation of Hon Bisi Yusuf (Member Lagos State House of Assembly), the hitherto leader of the axis, which eventually led to Bisi Yusuf’s defection to the Alimosho Liberation group for political lifeline. Hon Shakiru Yusuf will step down.

9. HON CHIEF MRS MORENIKE WILLIAMS

Another female aspirant and the immediate past Chairman of Igando Ikotun LCDA of Ondo State origin. Her performance was average as Council chair and she has been desperate for public office since she relinquishes her council chairmanship position. The grandmother presented herself as one of the appointees into the Lagos State University Governing Board, only to be told that the announced name was merely coincidental, the Mrs Williams expected was a United Kingdom based educationist, she bursted into tears at this development. Many wondered why she did not carry out necessary checks before she mobilized for an office she was not contacted for. Hon Williams will give Hon Oduntan a run for her money among the women folk in the Constituency if either direct or indirect primary is adopted. Hon Williams is said to be playing the “political notice me” card.

10. HON ADEBAYO BELLO (SUNSHINE)

He is a two term chairman of Egbe Idimu LCDA having served in various party offices before Sunshine came late into the fray, his support base over the years has been weakened and grossly eroded by being out of public office. Many believe the hair barber is out for a showing, and positioning for other considerations in the very least.
