MFM Topic, Wed April 3: lessons from the life of Hezekiah {1}

Beloved! Remember Bridges and walls are made with the same materials. But though Bridge joins the people, But Wall divides the people. Are you a Bridge that link people together or you are a Wall that separates people.

Welcome to MFM Devotional, 3 April 24

PRAISE & WORSHIP:
Like the woman at the well, I was seeking
For things that could not satisfy.
And then I heard my Savior speaking—
“Draw from My well that never shall run dry.” Fill my cup, Lord;
I lift it up Lord;
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.

2. There are millions in this world who are seeking
For pleasures earthly goods afford.
But none can match the wondrous treasure
That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord.

3. So my brother if the things that this world gives you
Leave hungers that won’t pass away,
My blessed Lord will come and save you
If you kneel to Him and humbly pray—

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
2 Samuel 13, 2 Samuel 14, 2 Samuel 15; 3 John 1; Jude 1

MEMORY VERSE: Hezekiah 18:4
“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine, the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
The soul that sinneth, it shall die.

3 APRIL PROPHETIC WORD:
Like father like son problem, like mother like daughter crisis, manifesting in your life shall die today, in the name of Jesus.

FIRE SCRIPTURE 2 Kings 16: 1-4, 20

In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.

3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

20 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

3 APRIL MESSAGE:
Today, we want to begin a study on the life of King Hezekiah. Who was he? Why did he succeed and what were his pitfalls? These and many more will be answered for our learnings in the next few days.

Hezekiah was a son of King Ahaz of Judah and Abi (2 King 18:1-2). Ahaz served the devil with all his might. It was recorded that he walked according to the abominations of the heathen (2 Kg. 16:2-3). As an heir to this wicked and abominable king, one would expect Hezekiah to follow the footsteps of his father.

Hezekiah never saw his father pray to God, he never saw him read the Bible, he never saw him do any good thing except abominations. So, it is not out of place to think that like the father, Hezekiah too will be mostly abominable and wicked.

Surprisingly, when he succeeded his father, he served God like David, his forefather. He brought the Israelites back to the worship of the one and only true God. He reformed the land and caused a revival. What could have been the secret? It could probably have been the role his mother played in his life.

Abi was said to be the daughter of Zechariah. Although not much is said about her, she must have influenced her child in the way of.God. She must have vowed that though she married an evil man, her children will not continue to wear such evil shoes. This speaks volume of the fact that the influence of mother in a child’s life cannot be overemphasized.

Hezekiah changed the narratives. No matter the amount of sermon by his mother, if he had chosen to go the way of the heathen like his father, nothing could have stopped him. But he chose the God of Abraham, he chose life over death despite his idolatrous background and God was with him all through his endeavours. God said in the book of Ezekiel that children will no longer be punished for the sins of their forefathers. But that whoever sins shall die.

Beloved, your parents might have served the devil and you may not have come from a Christian background but you can change the trend. You don’t have to continue to wear the evil shoes of your forefathers.

You can deal with the iniquity and weakness of your father’s house. Stop giving the excuses of ’that is the way things are in our family’. You can stop evil narrative with the help of God, if you are willing.

Joshua said, “Choose you this day who you will serve but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” Choose life!

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Like father like son problem in my life, die, in the name of Jesus

2. Like mother like daughter crisis in my root, die, in the name of Jesus.

3. The evil shoes of my father’s house will not size me, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Iniquity of my ancestry, manifesting in my life, die, in the name of Jesus.

5. Powers that want to punish me for the sins of my ancestors, collide with the Rock of Ages and die, in the name of Jesus.

6. Powers asking me to pay the debts of my ancestors, the Blood of Jesus is against you, die, in the name of Jesus

7. I decree by fire, as for me and my household, we shall serve the Living God, we shall serve Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
