MFM Topic, Sun 24 March 2024: lesson from the life of Miriam (2)

Beloved! Remember Bridges and walls are made with the same materials. But though Bridge joins the people, But Wall divides the people. Are you a Bridge that link people together or you are a Wall that separates people.

Welcome to MFM Devotional, 24 March 24

PRAISE & WORSHIP:
Praise, my soul, the King of heaven;
to his feet your tribute bring.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
evermore his praises sing.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King!

2 Praise him for his grace and favor
to his people in distress.
Praise him, still the same as ever,
slow to chide, and swift to bless.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Glorious in his faithfulness!

3 Fatherlike he tends and spares us;
well our feeble frame he knows.
In his hand he gently bears us,
rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Widely yet his mercy flows!

4 Angels, help us to adore him;
you behold him face to face.
Sun and moon, bow down before him,
dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise with us the God of grace!

24 MARCH PROPHETIC WORD: Jesus shall implant His love in your heart, in the name of Jesus.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Exodus 2: 4-8

And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.

Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.

24 MARCH MESSAGE:
‘Miriam was a loving and compassionate sibling. She stood up for her weak and helpless brother. She didn’t display the nonchalant attitude that most Christians display in our days. She strengthened the feeble knees.

She became a voice for her helpless brother in the presence of Pharaoh’s daughter. She forbade it that her brother would be sacrificed to an Egyptian river god. As young as she was, she insisted that the will of God be done and it was done. She fought for her brother and she won.

Beloved, are you a loving sibling like Miriam? When I say sibling, I mean both your biological ° and spiritual siblings (your fellow Christians and those of the household of faith). Have you ever pecome a voice of rescue for anyone in your life? Who in this life have you stood for? When a brother or sister is in a mess, what do you do about it? Is it not that you go about mocking and taunting him or her?

Even the so-called prayer meetings that some people call to pray for them usually end as a gossip-meeting. These days, we are quick to rubbish ourselves on the social media and the unbelieving world is watching and laughing the children of Abraham to scorn.

In the early church, believers carried each other’s burdens on their heads; they covered each other’s nakedness (Acts 2:44-45, 4:35). In those days, it was hard to see Christians commit suicide but these days, even some pastors do. Why? It is because no one was there to encourage them when they reached their wits’ end. No one was available to share and bear their burdens.

These days, no one is standing up for anybody again; everyone is now on his of her own. This ought not to be so, beloved. Some of us are well to do but our biological parents and siblings have never tasted part of the wealth.

In the last two weeks, how many people have you checked on to see if they are truly fine? Today, make a call to someone; put a smile on someone’s face; send a thank you note to your boss, pastor and parents. You might, by so doing, be lifting a burden, or even saving a soul or an entire generation.
