MFM Topic, Tue 25/04/23:- Christ Jesus, Our Propitiation

Welcome to MFM Devotional, 25/04/23

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Chronicles 5 – 7; Matthew 19-20

WORSHIP & PRAISE:

Christ our Redeemer died on the cross,
Died for the sinner, paid all his due;
Sprinkle your soul with the blood of the Lamb,
And I will pass, will pass over you.

Refrain:
When I see the blood,
When I see the blood,
When I see the blood,
I will pass, I will pass over you.

2 Chiefest of sinners, Jesus will save;
As He has promised, that He will do;
Wash in the fountain opened for sin,
And I will pass, will pass over you. (Refrain)

3 Judgment is coming, all will be there,
Each one receiving justly his due;
Hide in the saving sin-cleasing blood,
And I will pass, will pass over you. (Refrain)

4 O great compassion! O boundless love!
O loving kindness, faithful and true!
Find peace and shelter under the blood,
And I will pass, will pass over you. (Refrain)

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 3:25

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
GOD WANTS THE BEST FOR US, WE CAN ONLY RECEIVE GOD’S BEST THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO HIS WILL.

25\4\23 PROPHETIC WORD:
The death of Jesus Christ will not be in vain over your life, in the name of Jesus.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 John 2:2-6 [KJV]

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

25/4/23 MESSAGE:

Propitiation carries the idea of complete covering of our sins and complete satisfaction for our offenses. Generally, we know that our laws clearly states that certain crimes are to be punished with certain penalties. When one of the laws is broken, we have a system that requires a vindication for the crime committed. We call it justice.

God’s justice is the same, only that He treats all sins alike. The penalty for breaking law must be satisfied. God’s justice demands death; that is the penalty given to sinners. As sinners. we cannot do anything to correct our wrong because God loves us and wants to forgive us. He wants us to be free from the penalty of sin. God cannot set us free unless the demands of justice are met.

What is the demand for justice? Death is the penalty which God’s justice demands. There is no other one He accepts. As guilty law breakers, we cannot do anything to correct our wrong. The goodness is that God loves us and wants us to be free from the penalty of sin. Death is under consideration in the matter of propitiation. According to our memory verse, Rom. 3:25, it was God who provided propitiation.

Leviticus 16 explains that the word “propitiation” was through nothing but the blood of Jesus. It further explains how Aaron took the blood and sprinkled it upon the lid of the Ark of covenant, that is, the mercy seat. Below it is the box that contained the Ten Commandments, which were the representatives of the law. This box is known as the Ark of Judgement.

On the day of atonement, the High Priest will stand before God’s judgement representing the people, sprinkling the sacrificial blood. The blood of Jesus was offered for us to give us righteousness and holiness from our sinful life, removing the penalty of sin which has separated us from God.
