Welcome to MFM Devotional 23\05\23

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Esther 1 – 3; John 7 – 8

WORSHIP & PRAISE:

1 Conquerors and overcomers now are we,
Thro’ the precious blood of Christ we’ve victory,
If the Lord be for us, we can never fail;
Nothing ‘gainst his mighty pow’r can e’er prevail.

Refrain:
Conquerors are we, thro’ the blood, thro’ the blood;
God will give us victory, thro’ the blood, thro’ the blood,
Thro’ the Lamb for sinners slain,
Yet who lives and reigns again,
More than conquerors are we,
More than conquerors are we.

2 In the name of Israel’s God we’ll onward press,
Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness;
Not to us, but unto him the praise shall be,
For salvation and for blood-bought victory. [Refrain]

3 Unto him that overcometh shall be giv’n
Here to eat of hidden manna sent from heav’n;
Over yonder he the victor’s palm shall bear,
And a robe of white, and golden crown shall wear. [Refrain]

MEMORY VERSE: Samuel 14:1

Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on the other side. But he told not his father.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Show me a man who can dare great things and I will show you a man that has the key to rule his world.

PROPHETIC WORD for 23-05-23:
YOU WILL NOT BE LOST IN THE CROWD, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

FIRE SCRIPTURE:1 Samuel 14:1-12 {KJV}

14 Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on the other side. But he told not his father.

2 And Saul tarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people that were with him were about six hundred men;

3 And Ahiah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod’s brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the Lord’s priest in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. And the people knew not that Jonathan was gone.

4 And between the passages, by which Jonathan sought to go over unto the Philistines’ garrison, there was a sharp rock on the one side, and a sharp rock on the other side: and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.

5 The forefront of the one was situate northward over against Michmash, and the other southward over against Gibeah.

6 And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the Lord will work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few.

7 And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.

8 Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will discover ourselves unto them.

9 If they say thus unto us, Tarry until we come to you; then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up unto them.

10 But if they say thus, Come up unto us; then we will go up: for the Lord hath delivered them into our hand: and this shall be a sign unto us.

11 And both of them discovered themselves unto the garrison of the Philistines: and the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves.

12 And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the Lord hath delivered them into the hand of Israel

MESSAGE FOR 23-5-23:

In the next few days, we shall be gleaning timeless lessons from the life of Jonathan, the son of King Saul.
The first lesson to learn from Jonathan was his daring attitude. In other words, he could be said to be a fearless, risk taker who would not take no for an answer.

“Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on the other side….” (1 Samuel 14:1).

Jonathan was not complacent, neither was he satisfied sitting among the crowd. He knew he could do more than just being in the number. He knew the Philistines garrison was formidable. He was aware that the Philistines were sworn enemies of the Israelites, enemies of no mean ability and so it was risky to dare such adversary.

However, he also knew that it was riskier to leave such enemies unconfronted. He took his battle to the gate of his enemies. He understood the principle of spiritual warfare. He knew that the enemy you parmper and refuse to smite will come smiting you sooner or later. He dared the adversary that even his father could not confront, and he won the battle.

In the race called life, you either fight or perish. No wonder, Hymnist Bessie F. Hatcher reiterated in her song. the following lines

If you’re in the battle for the Lord and right, keep on the firing line; if you win, brother, surely you must fight, keep on the firing line.
There are many dangers that we all must face. If we die still fighting, it is no disgrace; Cowards in the service will not find a place. So keep on the firing line.

Beloved, are you being battered by powers and battles that seem too strong for you and you feel like just accepting it as fate? No! you can’t accept nonsense for your life. Rise up like Jonathan, in the name of Lord of host. Take your battle to the gate of your enemy.

Fight from the standpoint of the victory won on the Cross and see how the enemy will take a bow from your affairs.

PRAYER POINTS:
