Welcome to MFM Devotional 28\05\23

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Job 6 – 8; John 17 – 18.

WORSHIP & PRAISE:

1 There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus:
No, not one! no, not one!
None else could heal all our souls’ diseases:
No, not one! no, not one! Jesus knows all about our struggles;
He will guide ’til the day is done:
There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus:
No, not one! no, not one!

2 No friend like Him is so high and holy,
No, not one! no, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly,
No, not one! no, not one!

3 There’s not an hour that He is not near us,
No, not one! no, not one!
No night so dark, but His love can cheer us,
No, not one! no, not one!

4 Did ever saint find this Friend forsake him?
No, not one! no, not one!
Or sinner find that He would not take him?
No, not one! no, not one!

5 Was e’er a gift like the Savior given?
No, not one! no, not one!
Will He refuse us the bliss of heaven?
No, not one! no, not one!

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 18:24
A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
IF YOU CAN’T BE A PENCIL TO WRITE SOMEONE’S HAPPINESS, THEN TRY TO BE A NICE ERASER TO REMOVE THEIR SADNESS.

28\5\23 PROPHETIC WORD:
God shall plant the Jonathan-kind of friends in the boat of your life, in the name of Jesus.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: I Samuel 20:4-17
And thou shalt not only while yet I live shew me the kindness of the Lord, that I die not:

15 But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the Lord hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.

16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the Lord even require it at the hand of David’s enemies.

17 And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

28\5\23 MESSAGE:

Still on our study of the life of Jonathan, we want to glean yet another lesson today.

Jonathan was a true, loyal, reliable and dependable friend.

He was a real friend who was there for David through thick and thin.

The Bible says that Jonathan loved David as his own soul. What a friend! The types of Jonathan are rare, especially in our present age when genuine people that truly love others are scarce. This is an age when friends and relations backstab one another at the slightest provocation.

“There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend stick closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24 NLT).

Beloved, what type of friend are you to others? Can you be trusted and relied upon? Can people find a confidant and strengthener in you when the chips are down? As much as you want people to be good to you, are you also good and kind to others? Can you be trusted to keep their secrets and not backstab them? Much as you want people to be loyal to you, how loyal are you to those who have invested themselves into you?

Another great lesson to leam from this saint is integrity. Jonathan was a man of his word. “The next moming, as agreed, Jonathan went out into the field….. (1Samuel 20:35). He kept his promise as agreed; he was not a truce breaker. Can God trust you? Can men trust you? Can unbelievers vouch for you?

If a character research is conducted about you in your work or business place today, what will be the response of co-workers about you? How many lives have smiled because you came on board? Or do people cry and cry because they met you? How cautious are you with your words to others?

Will your spouse and children want to choose you over and over again? How is your relationship life? Are you always going everywhere with a long face? Ask yourself these pertinent and soul-searching questions and consider your ways.

A hymnist once wrote; “Sing a song, spread some cheer. There are sad and lonely people everywhere. Be a friend, show some love. It will lift them from the dungeons of despair.”

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Lord Jesus, forgive me for not showing Your love to others, in the name of Jesus.

2. Father, let my life draw men to You, in the name of Jesus.

3. My character will not kick me out of destiny, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Every unfriendly friend in the boat of my life, be exposed and be disgraced, in the name of Jesus.

5. Discerning spirit to know people for who they really are, come upon me, in the name of Jesus.

6. Joy of the Lord, fill my heart afresh, in the name of Jesus.

7. I shall not fail God, in the name of Jesus.
