ONGOING 70 DAYS PRAYER & FASTING. YOU CAN STILL JOIN.

Welcome to MFM Devotional 26\08\23

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Songs of Solomon 3 – 4; Matthew 5 – 6

PRAISE & WORSHIP
1 Thy way, not mine, O Lord,
however dark it be;
lead me by thine own hand,
choose out the path for me.

2 Smooth let it be or rough,
it will be still the best;
winding or straight, it leads
right onward to thy rest.

3 I dare not choose my lot;
I would not if I might:
choose thou for me, my God,
so shall I walk aright.

4 The kingdom that I seek
is thine, so let the way
that leads to it be thine,
else I must surely stray.

5 Take thou my cup, and it
with joy or sorrow fill,
as best to thee may seem;
choose thou my good and ill.

6 Choose thou for me my friends,
my sickness or my health;
choose thou my cares for me,
my poverty or wealth.

7 Not mine, not mine, the choice
in things or great or small;
be thou my guide, my strength,
my wisdom, and my all

AS YOU START YOUR DAY BY SEEKING FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD, ALL OTHER THINGS YOU NEED THIS DAY, 26 SATURDAY 26 2023 SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU IN JESUS NAME {MATT 6:33}.

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 3:12
For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father Verse: the son in whom he delighteth.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Divine discipline today is divine profiting tomorrow.

26/8/23 PROPHETIC WORD:
Henceforth, God will envelop you in His love and favour, in the name of Jesus.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 12:3-11 {KJV}
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby

26-8-23 MESSAGE:
God loves His children and disciplines or chastises them when they make mistakes. He is a disciplinarian; He does not spare the rod to spoil the child.

However, many believers do not handle His discipline the right way. This often leads them to more serious trouble with their Maker. How do you view and respond to divine discipline?

In our fire scripture for today, the Bible admonishes us not to despise divine discipline. If God punishes you, find out the reason and make amends. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of God (Hebrews 10:31). It also admonishes us not to faint or get discouraged when God chastises us. Rather, it enjoins us to endure (Hebrews 12:7).

Moreso, divine discipline has several benefits. Let us examine some of them.

First, it proves our sonship. Hebrews 12: 6-8 affirms that if we are not disciplined by the Lord, we are not His sons but bastards. When he disciplines us, then we are truly His sons, heirs and objects of His love.

Second, divine discipline tests our submission to God. As believers, our submission should not be mere lip service but genuinely exhibited in our actions. God uses His discipline to test and prove if truly we have submitted to Him.

Third, divine discipline has great profit for us. It is meant to make us better, disciplined, mature, fruitful and to fulfil our divine purposes on earth as well as make us to spend eternity with the Lord in heaven.

Jonah disobeyed God’s instruction. He headed to Tarshish instead of Nineveh. God’s rod of discipline located him and drove him into the belly of a fish for three days and three nights of pain. In the end, he repented. God forgave and released him. Then, he carried out the divine command.

David also was disciplined by God when he committed adultery with Bathsheba and murdered Uriah, her husband as well as when he wrongfully took Israel’s census.

In the New Testament, God made Zechariah dumb for some time for doubting Him.
Jonah, David and Zechariah were vessels in the hand of God. Yet, He disciplined them to make them align with His will and fulfil His purpose. Those that God loves. He chastises.
