17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:

19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

24/6/23 MESSAGE:

In the Gospel according to Matthew 16:21. Jesus began to explain to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hand of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law. He told them He would be killed and would rise up on the third day. He came to give life and give it abundantly.

What does resurrection mean? It is the act of arising from the dead and becoming alive again. It is the hope that when we die, we will not experience the second death, according to the book of Revelation. This is because Jesus had tasted death for all that have trusted their lives to Him. Jesus was raised from the clead to be the first fruit of the faithful.

Resurrection proves that Jesus is still with us and is guiding us every day. It also proves that Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God. Everything he said and did was true. By His perfect sacrifice of dying on the cross, Jesus saved us from sin.

However, it is through His resurrection that we will ultimately have an etemal relationship with God. Knowing Jesus as the resurrection and the life means having the hope and security that Jesus will always be there for us to give a comprehensive answer to our pain, grief and disappointment.

In John 11, we read about a man called Lazarus who was dying. Lazarus, Martha and Mary were great friends of Jesus; they sent a message to Jesus to tell him Lazarus was severely ill. Martha and Mary expected Jesus to arrive very quickly as Lazarus’ condition grew worse. Jesus didn’t appear until Lazarus had died. By the time Jesus arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had been buried for four days.

Despite the situation, Jesus rose Lazarus up from the dead. He conquered death so that you and me can have life.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Any good thing that is dead in my life, receive the power of resurrection, in the name of Jesus.

2. Power of resurrection and life, locate my life, in the name of Jesus.

3. My health, receive the power of resurrection, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life, visit me today, in the name of Jesus.

5. The Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, quicken my spirit, soul and body, in the name of Jesus.

6. Power of resurrection touch and revive dead wombs and other organs, in the name of Jesus.

7. Power of resurrection, fall upon my business, career and finances, in the name of Jesus.
