PRAISE & WORSHIP

Thy Word is a lamp to my feet,
A light to my path alway,
To guide and to save me from sin,
And show me the heav’nly way.

MESSAGE FOR 12-8-23:
Today’s memory verse says, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discemer of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

If you have a sharp knife in your kitchen, and never get hold of it for your use, your food is not going to cut itself. It is the same with our Bible which is loaded with God’s words. Your situation will not change until you take up God’s word and apply it to that situation.

Hebrews 4:12 explains that the word of God is even sharper than a sword; it is called the Sword of the Spirit. It penetrates deeper than the physical sword; it is powerful; it is truth; it judges thoughts and intentions; it exposes our innermost thoughts and desires; it helps us to distinguish between right and wrong, so that we can live sin-free lives; and it can be used as an offensive or defensive weapon against our enemies.

If you are lacking in the knowledge of God’s word, how will you fight your enemies? How will you fight the good fight of faith? You must study the word (2 Tim. 2:15), and meditate on it day and night (Joshua 1:8). Furthermore, do not stop at only acquiring the knowledge of God’s word. You must take up the Sword when necessary. Apply the word when the situation demands it.

Sometimes some seemingly unfavourable situations leave you so drained that you do not have the energy, strong-will or motivation to apply the word. You must understand that you are not to rely on your strength alone. By strength shall no man prevail (1 Samuel 2:9). Rely on the Holy Spirit at such times, as He is our Strengthener.

Beloved, in season and out of season, when things are pleasant in your life and when they are not, study memorise and confess God’s word daily. Make it the object of your meditation. Take the Sword of the Spirit and prevail over all your enemies.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. My heart is fertile to allow God’s word grow, in the name of Jesus.

2. O Lord, help me to yield promptly to Your word at all times, in the name of Jesus.

3. God’s counsel concerning my life shall stand, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Father, by Your divine orchestration, let Your word reach every unsaved member of my family, in the name of Jesus.

5. Father, soften the hearts of my family members to receive Your word, in the name of Jesus.

6. Let Your will, O Lord, be done on earth, as it is in heaven, in the name of Jesus.

7. Every seemingly unfavourable circumstance, begin to work together for my good, in the name of Jesus.
