BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Job 20-21; Acts 10:24-48

PRAISE & WORSHIP:
A MIGHTY FORTRESS IS OUR GOD
A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he, amid the flood
of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
does seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

2 Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right Man on our side,
the Man of God’s own choosing.
You ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth his name,
from age to age the same;
and he must win the battle.

3 And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God has willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

4 That Word above all earthly powers
no thanks to them abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours
through him who with us sideth.

Psalm 18:1-19 {KJV}
18 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.

2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

13 The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay.

19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

01/07/23 MESSAGE:
The world is accustomed to interpreting a fortress as a place or building of exceptional security, but in God’s Kingdom, a fortress is not just a thing; it is a Person.

Every time God is referred to as a fortress in the Bible, these words commonly appear: refuge, rock, strength, and trust. In God, we have a well-protected refuge that is difficult for enemies to invade. In God, we find strength for defense and victory. In God, we can put our trust and have nothing to fear or worry about. In God, we are fortified.

So, what issues are confronting you? What enemies are hindering your progress? It doesn’t matter how many they are. It doesn’t matter how strong they claim to be. It doesn’t matter if your family and friends have abandoned you. As long as you have God, there is hope for victory. Having challenges doesn’t make you abnormal.

Jesus says we shall have tribulations in the world, but we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world (John 16:33) and handed over the victory to us. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Is the enemy pursuing you? Are your enemies wicked and unrepentant? Run to Jesus. Make Him your fortress and strong tower.

Beloved, whatever your problems may be, take them to God in prayer; He is your mighty fortress. Rejoice and trust that no enemy can have the final say over your life. You are more than a conqueror!

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. The Name of the Lord is my strong tower. I run into it, and I am safe in it, in the name of Jesus.

2. No weapon formed against me shall prosper, in the name of Jesus.

3. Every tongue that rises against me is condemned, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. The Lord is with me as a mighty terrible One. Therefore, my persecutors shall stumble and not prevail, in the name of Jesus.

5. My enemies shall be greatly ashamed, for they shall not prosper, in the name of Jesus.

6. I decree everlasting confusion in the camp of my enemies, in the name of Jesus.

7. Only God’s counsel concerning my life shall stand, in the name of Jesus.
