FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 32:24-32 {KJV}

24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank.

24/7/23 MESSAGE:

Yesterday, we discussed the importance of having an encounter with God and how such an experience can change the course of a life for good. We shall look more into this issue today.

In the Old Testament, Jacob’s story readily comes to mind. He was a chest and a supplanter. Subtily, he had stolen the birthright of Esau, his brother, and had run away. He showed the seed of discord and sibling rivalry. Years later, Laban defrauded and short-changed him too.

When he eventually left Laban and needed to meet Esau, he was full of fear. It took an encounter with God to help and change him. When Esau saw him he couldn’t help granting him favour. Why? It was not Jacob he met, it was Israel.

The one who was not blessed is now blessed. The supplanter and guilty has now found grace and pardon. If your life and destiny have been hijacked, perverted or derailed by the devil, an encounter with the reverser of the irreversible and unchanging changer is what you need. Your Jacob will become Israel.

Saul of Tarsus was heading in the wrong direction. He had pitched his tent against God, His church and children. One day, mercy found Saul in the thick of his persecution of the Church. He had an encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. God changed his destination from hell to heaven. The man who was damned and condemned became a vessel into honour and God’s foremost apostle. That how wonderful a divine encounter can be!

However, the greatest encounter you can have is salvation. If are not born again, I counsel you to give your life to Jesus now. The moment you become a member of His Kingdom, life- changing encounters will be your daily experience.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. My Father, open the heavens over my head, on the name of Jesus.

2. My Father, have mercy on me as You had on Jacob, in the name of Jesus.

3. O God. Be gracious to me as You were to Saul of Tarsus, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Father, reveal the secret of greatness to me, in the name of Jesus.

5 Father, amount me and use me for Your glory, in the name of Jesus.

6. Oil of establishment and fulfilment, come upon my life now, in the name of Jesus.

7. Father, multiply Your grace and peace towards me, in the name of Jesus.
