12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

20-02-23 MESSAGE:

We are still on the armour of God for the Christian soldiers. While all other pieces of the armour are protective and defensive against attacks from the opponent, there is one that is completely offensive – the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

No soldier goes to war without a sword, and a sharp one for that matter. He cuts into and through the enemy with his sword to gain victory. But just like the other pieces of the armour, our weapons are not physical. This is not a physical sword. Rather, it is a spiritual sword that is sharper than a two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). It is the power of God in fighting for and delivering the people of God in battle.

Beloved, how much of God’s word dwells in you, according to Colossians 3:16? Is your spiritual sword sharp or blunt? Strangely, many Christians are guilty of incomplete or broken swords? How then can you be victorious in war against these powers? You need to read, meditate and study the word of God (2 Timothy 2:15).

The sword of the Spirit is an indispensable piece of the armour, just like the others. Decide today to be a good student of the Bible. If you desire victory, then examine if your armour is complete. Only then can you be confident of victory through Christ Jesus.

Lastly, our feet should be shodded by the gospel of peace. What does this mean? You must be a carrier of the Good News of salvation! The Bible says, “How beautiful are the feet of those who spread the message of salvation” (Romans 10:14-15). As a believer in Christ, are your feet beautiful? God delights in soul winners. They are established in His word and rooted in His love. They are not just soldiers but also harvesters of souls to His kingdom.

Did you notice that there is no covering for the back? It simply means that the Christian soldier is not expected to turn his back on the enemy. That is, no retreat and no looking back! Rather, it is forward movement and never backward!

You are to put them to flight when your obedience is complete (2 Corinthians 10:3-6).

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. I receive the sharp double edged Sword of the Spirit to fight and be victorious, in the name of Jesus.

2. Father, let Your word dwell in me richly to confront and overcome the enemies of my soul and salvation, in the name of Jesus.

3. I come against every power assigned to choke up the power of God’s word in my life, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

1. O Lord, make my feet beautiful as I preach Your word in and out of season, in the name of Jesus.

2. As a soul winner, O Lord, make me wise, in the name of Jesus.

3. Lord Jesus, be my divine covering on the battlefield of life, in the name of Jesus.

4. O Lord, cause Your word to dwell in me and to prosper in my life, in the name of Jesus.
