MFM Topic, SAT 17-12-22:- the power of unity (4)

Welcome to MFM Devotional, 17/12/22

PRAISE & WORSHIP:
HEAR THE FOOTSTEP OF JESUS

1. Hear the footsteps of Jesus,
He is now passing by,
Bearing balm for the wounded,
Healing all who apply;
As He spake to the suff’rer
Who lay at the pool,
He is saying this moment,
Wilt thou be made whole?

Refrain
Wilt thou be made whole?
Wilt thou be made whole?
O come, weary suff’rer,
O come, sin-sick soul;
See the life-stream is flowing,
See the cleansing waves roll,
Step into the current and thou shalt be whole.

2. ’Tis the voice of that Savior,
Whose merciful call
Freely offers salvation
To one and to all;
He is now beck’ning to Him
Each sin-tainted soul,
And lovingly asking,
Wilt thou be made whole? [Refrain]

3. Are you halting and struggling,
Overpowr’d by your sin,
While the waters are troubled
Can you not enter in?
Lo, the Savior stands waiting
To strengthen your soul;
He is earnestly pleading,
Wilt thou be made whole? [Refrain]

4. Blessèd Savior, assist us
To rest on Thy Word;
Let the soul healing power
On us now be outpoured;
Wash away every sin-spot,
Take perfect control,
Say to each trusting spirit,
Thy faith makes thee whole. [Refrain]

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezra 1, Ezra 2:1-67, Revelation 8, Revelation 9:1-12, Psalm 144:9-15

MEMORY VERSE: Acts 2:1-
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.”

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR 17 DEC 22:
The Almighty God will make the Church one body, working together unitedly, in the name of Jesus.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew18:18-20 (KJV)
18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

17/12/22 MESSAGE:
We have learnt about the causes of unity and some of its negative effects. Today, we will consider the fruits of unity.
The first fruit of unity is that it makes it possible for people to work together fora common goal. Amos 3:3 says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Marriage, care, ministry, friendship, partnership and collaborations will not yield the right dividend if the partners involved are not united in purpose and going in the same direction.

Matthew 18:19-20 further underscores an important benefit of unity, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, There I am in the midst of them.” It shows that the Lord loves and encourages unity among the brethren. Similarly, on the day of Pentecost, the Bible affirms that there was an atmosphere of unity that marked the arrival or descent of the Blessed Holy Spirit. The Bible says that the disciples were all with one accord in one place (Acts 2:1). In Philippians 1:27, Paul enjoined us to stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.

The second fruit of unity is that it produces strength. There is strength in unity. Those who are united will stand, upheld by the hand of the Almighty while those who are divided will fall. In Judges 20:11, the Bible records that the army of Israel were gathered against the city of the Benjamites and were knit or united together as one man. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 and 12 says, “Two are better than one… for if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow. If one prevail against him, two shall withstand the foe and a three-fold cord is not… broken.”

The third dividend of unity is called the good fruit of united outreach. In Acts 2:1-2 and 41, the believers were all with one accord in one place and they were filled with the Holy Spirit. In addition, they witnessed and 3,000 souls were saved.

Beloved, now you can see why Jesus prayed for the unity of the Church in John 17:11,21-23. We should be one body, working together unitedly!
