MFM Topic, MON 12-12-22:-the dangers of partiality (2)

Welcome to MFM Devotional, 12/12/22

PRAISE & WORSHIP:
CHTIST IS OUR CORNERSTONE
1 Christ is our cornerstone,
on him alone we build;
with his true saints alone
the courts of heav’n are filled.
On his great love our hopes we place
of present grace and joys above.

2 Here may we gain from heav’n
the grace which we implore,
and may that grace, once giv’n,
be with us evermore
until that day when all the blest
to endless rest are called away.

3 Oh, then, with hymns of praise
these hallowed courts shall ring;
our voices we will raise
the Three in One to sing
and thus proclaim in joyful song,
both loud and long, that glorious name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Esther 2:19-23, Esther 3, Esther 4, Esther 5, Revelation 3:7-22, Psalm 141:1-10

MEMORY VERSE FOR 12/12/22:
1 Timothy 5:21- 1 charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Partiality is an acid that corrodes the talent of some people.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR 12-12-22:
I pray that God will make you a promoter of His love, peace and unity, in the name of Jesus.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Acts 10:24-33 (KJV):

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

12-12-22 MESSAGE:
Today, our world is filled with prejudice and hatred based on class, race, ethnicity, nationality and religion. The Bible condemns our categorization of people into Jew or Gentile, slave or free, rich or poor, Greek or barbarian, etc. God is also not happy with racial discrimination, ethnic and tribal cleavage and other forms of division among us.

God promotes love, unity and peaceful co-existence. He also commands us to do the same, but these values seem to be lost in our days. In Acts 10, God showed Peter a vision to correct the age-long discrimination in their days that made it unlawful for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to another nation (Acts 10:28).

God showed and told Peter in the vision not to call any man common or unclean anymore. In other words, God is telling us to stop any form of discrimination, partiality and divisive tendency. Remember that if Jesus had not rejected discrimination and related well with the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4, He would not have converted her and many others at that time. Similarly, Jesus honoured the Syrophoenician woman’s faith and gave her the miracle she needed, in spite of her race.

He went about doing good to all and sundry without partiality.

If we obey the words of the Scripture, our nations and societies will be saved from the adverse effects of unnecessary class structure, gender discrimination, tribal, ethnic and racial division that often lead to avoidable wars. There were parents who did not give their daughters education beyond secondary school because they believed only their sons deserve such an investment.

Some employers do not employ people from some tribes, no matter how qualified such people may be. Also, some landlords do not oblige some fellow Christians who seek accommodation from them because they belong to another denomination or ethnic group. The list of discrimination seems endless and God is not happy with this.

The charge our Royal Master gave us is to go and make disciples of all nations. This shows that every form of barrier and discrimination has been removed. Winning the world to Christ and the souls of men for Him should be our priority.

To achieve this, we must eliminate all forms of discrimination, partiality and division at all levels.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Father, arise and rid our world of racial discrimination and its consequences, in the name of Jesus.

2. I come against ethnic war, tribalism and other forms of division, in the name of Jesus.

3. Father, let Your love reign in my heart, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Father, help me to promote unity and peaceful co-existence, in the name of Jesus.

5. O God, arise and remove every barrier to peaceful co-existence in the Church and the society, in the name of Jesus.

6. Lord, come and reign in my nation, in the name of Jesus.

7. Father, make all Christian homes Your abode, in the name of Jesus.
