Ananias and Sapphira

5 There was a man named Ananias. His wife’s name was Sapphira. Ananias sold some land he had, 2 but he gave only part of the money to the apostles. He secretly kept some of the money for himself. His wife knew this, and she agreed with it.

3 Peter said, “Ananias, why did you let Satan fill your mind with such an idea? You kept part of the money for yourself and lied about it to the Holy Spirit!

4 Before you sold the field, it belonged to you, right? And even after you sold it, you could have used the money any way you wanted. How could you even think of doing such a thing? You lied to God, not to us!”

5-6 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. Some young men came and wrapped his body. They carried it out and buried it. And everyone who heard about this was filled with fear.

7 About three hours later his wife came in. Sapphira did not know about what had happened to her husband.

8 Peter said to her, “Tell me how much money you got for your field. Was it this much?”

Sapphira answered, “Yes, that was all we got for the field.”

9 Peter said to her, “Why did you and your husband agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! Do you hear those footsteps? The men who buried your husband are at the door. They will carry you out in the same way.”

10 At that moment Sapphira fell down by his feet and died. The young men came in and saw that she was dead. They carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

11 The whole church and all the other people who heard about this were filled with fear.

MFM Devotional 17/5/22 MESSAGE:
Sin has mysterious powers. It has single-handedly affected the destiny of man negatively more than any other force. It is the enemy’s most trusted and most tested weapon of destruction.

Nothing has the power to separate man from God like sin. Nothing has broken the fellowship between divinity and man like sin. Sin is a hired killer, an experienced and age-long assassin. Its targets are the precious souls of men, glorious destinies and everything designed to bring glory to God.

Sin has siblings: iniquity and transgression. They are triplets. Sin has terrible damaging effects. It has a deleting power. To delete is to remove from the face of something by erasing, blotting out or wiping off, leaving no trace that the thing ever existed.

Sin deleted Adam and Eve because they died spiritually. Sin deleted King Saul and took the kingdom from him. Sin deleted Samson and made him to die with his enemies. Sin deleted the couple, Ananias and Saphira. Sin also deleted families like Korah’s, Dathan’s and Abiram’s as well as Achan’s. Sin also deletes people’s joy, peace, blessing and good records. I pray that sin will not delete you and your household, in the name of Jesus.

Second, sin has subtracting power. The moment Adam and Eve sinned, the fellowship and intimacy they enjoyed with God stopped, and they lost paradise. Sin subtracted the kingdom from Saul and left him empty. Sin robbed Samson of his supernatural strength and anointing. The enemy has used sin more than anything else to steal people’s glorious destinies, blessings, virtues, marriages, ministries, longevity, joy, peace, progress, etc. I pray you will not fall victim to satan and sin, in the name of Jesus.

Beloved, Jesus has defeated sin and its power for you. He shed His blood and died to give you dominion over sin. The Bible says that sin will not have power over you. It is your responsibility to enforce your God-given dominion over sin. Some try to conquer sin in their power or effort. They often fail.

You must rely on the Holy Spirit to overcome sin. You must exercise genuine faith in the finished and substitutionary work of Jesus at Calvary. You must decide to live as a new creature truly.
