LIVING WATER: CAC DAILY DEVOTIONAL, TUESDAY JANUARY 11, 2022: PATTERN OF GOD’S WORK 1

TOPIC FOR 11/1/22: Pattern of God’s work 1

READ: 1 CHRONICLES 15:11-13

MEMORISE: For because you did not do it the first time, the LORD our God broke out against us because we did not consult Him about the proper order (1 Chronicles 15:13).

EXPOSITION

It is one thing to execute a task, and it is another to do it to specification, the standard (a detailed description providing needed information) that a production process must meet in the setting. Meeting the required standard is crucial in all ramifications. Every institution of learning has admission requirements. Likewise, doing God’s work has standards and specifications.

David tried to move the Ark of God into the place he had prepared for it, after it had been stationed in the house of Abinadab in Kirjath-jearim, but he met a brick wall. He was disappointed because the Ark claimed the life of Uzza, who tried to help the Ark from falling, the same Ark that had claimed the lives of many men of Beth-Shemesh who looked into it, before the people of Kirjath-jearim were called upon to move it away. They eventually moved it into Abinadab’s house where it was for 20 years (1 Sam. 6:19-7:1).

David, having realised his mistakes of transporting the Ark against the PROPER ORDER, wanted to right his wrong. Therefore, he called on the priests and Levites who were the original bearer of the Ark (cf. Exod. 25:12-15).

He said, For because you did not do it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us because we did not consult Him about the proper order (1 Chro 15:13). This time the transporting was successful, and the entire people were blessed; God was glorified and there was no death like before.

You can’t do God’s work the way you like. Many people are guilty of handling God’s works and projects anyhow. The best results cannot be experienced, if we choose our styles, our methods to do God’s work.

Always ask God for the PROPER ORDER for His assignments. Don’t do God’s work presumptuously, without directive, guidance, and instruction. No partial obedience in the name of creativity. Follow His instructions, and see the indescribable results.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, help me to always seek the PROPER WAY to seek You and do the particular work You commit into my hands.

2. O Lord, I refuse to disrespect You, Your Word, work and people; please, help me.
