Full list of broadcast stations with revoked licences

Federal Government has given two main reason why it withdrew broadcast licences of 52 television and radio stations.

It also ordered the affected station to “shut down their operations” within the next 24 hours.

The two reasons are their refusal to pay up their debts and also to renew their licences after the warning letters in May 2022.

National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Friday 19 August 2022 explained that three months after its warning, some of the television and radio stations refused to pay their outstanding debts and renew their licences.

It listed some of the affected stations. They include Silverbird TV, Rhythm FM, AIT/RayPower FM, and MITV.

It said the stations are operating illegally as they are yet to renew their licences from 2015.

The affected stations include Africa Independent Television (AIT) and its sister radio station, Raypower FM; Silverbird Television.
