Airtel opens Africa musical league, winner to go home with $100,000

In fresh attempt to prune unemployment, search and nurture people of all ages with musical talents, Airtel Africa, a leading provider of telecommunications came out with The Voice Africa.

 

The unveiling which took place in Eko Hotel, Lagos Nigeria on Wednesday, 19 October 2022, is meant to enourage those who has voice to sing or have interest in singing, irrespective of age or language.

 

Across Africa, 100 talents will be shortlisted for auditions. The Voice Africa will commence with virtual auditions on Friday 21 October 2022 followed by live auditions later this year. The show will be broadcast in March 2023, with the grand finale taking place later in the year.

 

To enter, interested participants are required to do a one minute video of themselves, singing any song of their choice, and upload to The Voice Africa website www.voiceafrica.com.

Speaking at the press conference to unveil the competition, Vice President, Corporate Communications & CSR, Airtel Africa, Emeka Opara said: “As a true African entity, we have always believed in Africa, as we have always done, and today’s event signals the commencement of a very exciting initiative for both the contestants and the viewing and voting public. Airtel Africa has provided this platform for our youths to showcase their talents and be the best they can be. Out of the 100 winners, one will go home with sum of $100000 prize for the winner while others will go home with pocket-bursting gifts.

 

“We are intentional and deliberate to empower our youths and enable them to channel their energies and great talents positively for their individual growth, and for the good of their families, communities, and indeed Africa. We want to thank our customers and colleagues and all the other countries across Africa for taking part in this competition. The future of Africa is bright.”

 

Likewise, the CEO, Airtel Africa, Segun Ogunsanya, while speaking during the event said, “As a business, we are driven by the purpose to transform lives, and that means unlocking the potential for people to grow. The Voice Africa gives us an incredible platform to help discover and champion the musical talents of young Africans, enabling them to achieve their full potential. I believe the drama and excitement around their stunning performances will unite people across the continent.

The Head, Brand Research and Communications, Airtel Africa, Nandu Buty, in response to a question reminded everyone that as music has no language barrier, interested persons can use his/her local voice, moreover there will be translators that can help in the decoding languages from the 100 participants.”

 

Building on the success of The Voice Nigeria, Airtel Africa has partnered with the executive producers of seasons three and four, FAME Studios Africa, to roll out the award-winning concept to all 14 countries in Africa.
