Victor Odiete, (Chairman, Ughelli branch) and Chief Barr. Mrs. Omoefe Pela-Taiga, (Chairperson, Warri branch); further said: “Our attention has been drawn to a misleading publication purportedly from the Branch Chairpersons of the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association Worldwide, Ekpoma, and said to have been endorsed by one Ehiorobo Friday, Chairman, Benin branch on our behalf.

“We wish to unequivocally disassociate ourselves and our Branches from the said publication which was released in bad faith and to create a wrong impression about the status of the Presidency of our great Alumni Association, worldwide ably led by Dr. Clifford Omozeghian.”

According to the statement, Mr. Ehiorobo Friday does not have the mandate of our Branches or the Alumni Association to speak on her behalf.

“We herewith state categorically that there is no faction in our Alumni Association as claimed by Friday Ehiorobo. How can an election which was free and fair produce two Presidents?

“Our association held her elections at Ekpoma on December 17, 2022 and Dr. Clifford Omozeghian emerged the Worldwide President and was officially sworn in with other EXCO members by a Notary Public, Barr. A. O. Ogbidi in the presence of all delegates and the Board of Trustees of our alumni association as observers.

” Anyone in doubt as to the authenticity of the Dr. Omozeghian led Executive Committee should contact the Chairman, Board of Trustees, AAU Alumni Association, Prof. A. D. Badaiki, SAN, who incidentally is also a lecturer at the University and a member of the Home Branch at Ekpoma.”

Furthermore, the alumni said: “The action of Friday Ehiorobo and his co-travellers should be seen as the last kick of a dying horse.

“We, the chairpersons of the Association Branches in Nigeria and in the Diaspora have full confidence in Dr. Clifford Omozeghian Esq and his executives. Their interface with the University Management and Special Intervention Team (SIT) on the recent increment in fees for incoming students is commendable and the result achieved satisfactory to us.”

In addition the statement said: “Friday Ehiorobo and his cohorts should desist from misrepresenting our alumni association and casting the image of our reputable university in bad light.

“A word is enough for the wise!”
