SSAEAC knocks some members with big hammer

For going against the Constitution governing the union and also for their
anti-labour activities, the leadership of Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) have knocked some members of the union with big hammer.

Describing them as disgruntled members who are bent on destroying laid down structures and achievements recorded over the years by past leaderships of the union, President of the Association, Comrade (Dr) Chris Okonkwo, announced their expulsion from the union.

Reading from the prepared speech written unanimously by the highest decision-making body, National Executive Council (NEC), Okonkwo lamented that all efforts to convince the aggrieved members over shifting of venue of the planned Delegates Conference from Kano State to Abuja fell on their deaf ears.

“We are supposed to hold our next Delegates Conference in Kano State. That agreement was reached when there was peace and safety in the country. But now, the continue insecurity in the country made the NEC members to change the venue to Abuja since we don’t want our members to be exposed to danger.

“But the expelled members felt aggrieved because of change of venue and tried to form a parallel unuion contrary to the Constitution. Efforts to convince them that Abuja was picked in place of Kano State because of security challenge confronting the country did not go down well with them. They held unrecognised conference where they impeached the President General. We have to discipline them in order to save our union from being destroyed by few disgruntled members.”

Moreover, the SSAEAC helmsman said, “it is very clear that the so-called impeachment from the group was a gross, misguided adventure. “How can 14 members out of large number of bonafide members impeach the head of a 38-member- Council. Is it by simple majority, he asked? “And from what perspective are they drawing the privileges?

“Above and beyond, the group’s matter was extensively deliberated during the emergency NEC meeting on – 16th August, 2021 and the Council in a unanimous decision agreed to expel them from the Association.”

In addition he “So the purported impeachment of the PG and termination of the appointment of the GS were null, void and of no recognition.”
