When Fidelity Bank Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo, restated the commitment of the bank to uphold sound ethical business practices, it reminded people of one of the sayings of Mahatma Gandhi that it takes just five minutes to ruin the reputation built in 25 years.

As ethical commitment includes having the courage to do what is right even if it would make you to stand alone from the crowd Okonkwo restated the bank’s commitment to the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct in its dealings with customers and all stakeholders.

Okonkwo gave the assurance on Monday as part of activities to mark the 2020 Corporate Compliance & Ethics Week.

The week-long celebration, according to Okonkwo, is providing a great opportunity to beam the spotlight on compliance and ethics. He said it was importance to however institutionalize the culture of compliance and ethics as an imperative for building a strong and enduring financial institution.

“Let us all be reminded in all our dealings that we need to coexist and prosper together with all stakeholders including customers, suppliers, partners, local communities and employees who are integral to our survival as a business. “‘Doing the right things, the right way’, is the best approach to building a sustainable business.”

Whilst reiterating that Fidelity Bank has kept ethics and professional integrity at the forefront of its business in the over three decades of existence, he emphasized that bank would continue to utilize digital technologies to deliver innovative financial services that meets with the needs of customers.

Commencing on November 2, 2020 and running up until Friday, November 6, 2020 the bank has organized series of employee engagement initiatives as part of the annual activities to celebrate the week.

Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week is organized annually by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE).
The platform provides organizations and employees with the opportunity to educate and drum attention to the twin issues.
