…to extend solidarity strike across 36 states of Nigeria
By allcitynews.ng
Unless Kaduna State Governor, Mr Nasir El-Rufai revert his earlier anti-labour activities, the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has expressed the readiness to ground economic activities of the state.
The planned invasion of Kaduna State by organised labour is to pressurise the governor to recall both those he sacked and those he converted to casualisation.
Irked that a state governor could come out with idea to institutionalized casualisation at a period when National Assembly is trying to criminalised casualisation and outsourcing, the President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, declared war by Nigerian workers against El-Rufai.
Wabba who made this known after the meeting by the highest decision making body of the union, National Executive Council (NEC) stated that the union has resolved to take on headlong the recent sacking and casualization of more than 48,320 workers in Kaduna State.
Reading from the statement signed by Comrade Ayuba Wabba and Acting General Secretary, Comrade Ismail
Bello, NEC also resolved on the following measures to protest the illegal, anti-workers and anti-people actions of the Kaduna State Governor, adding that the union is set to mobilize all Nigerian workers to commence an indefinite industrial action and mass protests in Kaduna State.
That workers would extend the strike actions and protests in Kaduna State to a 5-days nationwide industrial action if the Kaduna State Governor refuses to reverse his attack on workers in Kaduna State.
It would be recalled that Governor El-Rufai recently boasted that he was not voted into office in order to pay salary to the state workers, hence he embarked on mass sack and push some workers into casualization despite the move by National Assembly to abolish casualisation in the country.
