The National President of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Engineer Mansur Ahmed said Obajana Cement, Kogi State is 100 per cent property of Aliko Dangote.

Mansur who made this known to allcitynews.ng on Thursday 6 October 2022 stressed, “DANGOTE CEMENT PLC, A PUBLIC CO-OWNED SUBSTANTIALLY BY ALIKO DANGOTE.”

Meanwhile, Leadership of Dangote Cement Plc, has also reaffirmed that Obajana Cement Plant in Kogi State is 100 per cent owned by Dangote.

It similarly reassured stakeholders of the readiness of the company to bring transformation to Africa.

Reiterating that transformation of Africa is a task that must be done by the company, it also said welfare of the workers is key to the management.

The Group Managing Director, Mr Michel Puchercos, who made this known in a statement sent to allcitynews.ng by Dangote Media Team, announced that the hoodlums who invaded the Obajana Cement Factory and shot 27 of the workers would soon face the full wrath of the law.

“The management in the statement titled: Illegal shutdown of Dangote Cement, Obajana Plant, said- “Dangote Cement, wishes to inform members of the public, especially its customers and other stakeholders of the recent invasion of its Obajana Cement plant, Kogi State, by armed vigilantes on the orders of the state government.”

“The group led by some officials of the state government were apparently acting on the a resolution of Kogi State House of Assembly on controversial tax claims. The claims which the state governor had also contracdicted when he said the shutdown was due to an alleged invalid acquisition of the company by Dangote Ministries Limited.”

Additionally, Puchercos said “In the process of forcefully evicting the workers to enforce the shutdown, the vigilantes shot 27 of our workers and also destroyed some of our property at the plant.

“We have taken some steps to get the hooddlums apprehended by law enforcement agencies and we will ensure that full legal action is taken against them.”

Furthermore, GMD appealed to all the staff and esteemed customers to remain calm “as we explore all possible legal steps to address the situation.

“The welfare of our workers remains our key focus as we work hard to minimise further impact on our people and operations.”

And also, he said, “while we reiterate that Obajana Cement Plant is 100 per cent owned by Dangote Cement Plc. We remained resolute to transform Africa, while creating sustainable value to our peole, communities, investors and customers.”
