Journalists covering wellbeing of Nigerian workers, pensions and all Labour-related issues, Labour Writers Association of Nigeria (LAWAN) on Friday May 9, 2025 came together with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) in order to remind them of the role they are supposed to play at the interest of Nigerians.
Participants at the event which was sponsored by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) took place in a hotel, Maryland, Lagos, Nigeria.
While speaking on “Agenda for Journalists on understanding International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention 190 and Reporting Harassment at Work”, which was meant to equip journalists with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively report on harassment at work and genda equality, with a focus on the ILO Convention 190, Director General of Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry(LCCI) Dr Chinyere Almona, ILO representative at the event, Ms Inviolata Chinyangangarara, Mrs Janet Anaele of Solidarity Centre, a renowned media practitioner, Comrade Funmi Komolafe, Barrister (Mrs) Akinwade from NECA, a renowned lecturer, Professor Tunde Akanni, in unanimous decision noting that sexual harassment has not only gone beyond workplace issue but now is taking place everywhere, as such it should be treated with the seriousness it deserves based on the harm it is inflicting on victims.
