Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter embarks on N50 million Appeal Fund for Developmental Projects and Pharmaceutical Research

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter on Sunday, May 4, 2025 embarked on N50 million Appeal Fund for Developmental Projects and Pharmaceutical Research.

The event which took place in Providence Hotel, Ikeja GRA, that was organised by PSN, Lagos State chapter became an avenue for renewal of condemnation of the move by Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) to obtain more recognition at the detriment of other healthcare personnel, especially in Lagos State, Nigeria.

On his remarks, the PSN National President, and  Chief Host of the occasion, Pharmacist Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, reassured members of  readiness to have PSN in its right place.

“NMA cannot dictate to Federal or state governments what governments should do. PSN has come to stayJust a little correction, instead of “Consultant Pharmacist cadre has come to stay”.

Likewise, the Speaker of Lagos House of Assembly, Honourable Mudashiru Obasa who  was represented by Honourable Lawal Aina Musibau, commended the PSN for its pivotal roles daily healthcare delivering.

As such, the Chairman of PSN, Lagos State, Pharmacist Babayemi Oyekunle, during his welcome address, again condemned the move of NMA, noting, we are against “hostile and monarchical” attempts to undermine the implementation of the Consultant Pharmacist Cadre, which was approved by the Federal Government.

 

Oyekunle described the NMA move as
“a declaration of war,” warning that the era of medical elitism in the nation’s health system is over.

“The NMA Lagos is the vintage epitome of monarchical antiquity in which many Nigerian physicians still dwell in 2025. Its uncouth statements are unduly aggressive and hostile and amount to a declaration of war which it will get in doses that will consume it.”

Oyekunle reassured that PSN commitment to defending its members’ rights and called for equity, professionalism, and the strict adherence to lawful processes in healthcare administration.
