The People Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial flagbearer in Delta State Rt ( Hon) Sheriff Oborevwori has asked his teeming supporters and Deltans who are worried over the spate of litigation that has greeted his emergence as the party’s candidate at the just concluded primary elections in Delta State to relax, as there is no cause for alarm.
Rt Hon Oborevwori stated this in a brief chat with our correspondent at his Osubi, Warri country’s home, when he paid him a courtesy call over the weekend.
According the him, every success attracts envy and jealousy from different quarters and small minded individuals.
“Majority of those instituting the court cases are not even members of PDP.
“They lack the locus standi to do so, as the amended electoral Act doesn’t give them such privilege,” he stressed.
The politician said litigation is an unruly horse hence those instituting cases against him cannot be sure of having the last laugh over the issues at stake, as he his not guilty at all.
“I enjoined my teeming supporters and party faithful not to lose sleep at all over the various court cases challenging my eligibility to contest the 2023 general election as they will all end in fiasco,” he assured.
It would be recalled that some PDP faithful approached the Delta State High Court sitting in Bomadi and Patani to challenge the legibility of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to contest for the position of Delta State governorship position.
The judge has rule that the case will receive an accelerated hearing in view of the importance of the case.
