BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 124 – 125; 1 Tim 3 – 4

By allcitynews.ng

PRAISE & WORSHIP:

They were gathered in an upper chamber,
as commanded by the risen Lord,
and the promise of the Father
there they sought with one accord,
when the Holy Ghost from heaven
descended
like a rushing wind and tongues of fire:
so dear Lord, we seek Thy blessing,
come with glory now our hearts inspire.

Let the fire fall, let the fire fall,
1. let the fire from heaven fall;
we are waiting and expecting,
now in faith, dear Lord, we call;
let the fire fall, let the fire fall,
on Thy promise we depend;
from the glory of Thy presence
let the Pentecostal fire descend.

2. As Elijah we would raise the altar
for our testimony clear and true,
Christ the Saviour, loving Healer,
coming Lord, Baptizer too,
ever flowing grace and full salvation,
for a ruined race Thy love has planned;
for this blessed revelation,
for Thy written word we dare to stand.

3. ‘This the covenanted promise given
to as many as the Lord shall call,
to the fathers and their children,
to Thy people, one and all;
so rejoicing in Thy word unfailing,
we draw nigh in faith Thy power to
know –
come, O come, Thou burning Spirit,
set our hearts with heavenly fire aglow.

4. With a living coal from off Thy altar
touch our lips to swell Thy wondrous
praise,
to extol Thee, bless, adore Thee,
and our songs of worship raise;
let the cloud of glory now descending
fill our hearts with holy ecstasy,
come in all Thy glorious fullness,
blessed Holy Spirit, have Thy way

MEMORY VERSE: Prov.3:5-7:
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
When you are divinely led you struggle less in the service of God.
Prophetic word for today.
As you remain connected to the Holy Spirit, you will receive the reward of divine obedience and commitment, in the name of Jesus.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Acts 8: 26-40
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.

20\7\23 MESSAGE:

We shall continue to learn more from evangelist Phillip, a man of commitment and dedication to the service of God. He started with being one of those that were set apart for a peculiar assignment in the body of Christ at that time. Humble as the assignment was, he ended with doing great exploits for God through his ministry to multitude and to individuals. A true evangelist indeed!

Philip was a people’s person, a master at resolving conflicts. He demonstrated this at the time the seven deacons were appointed in Acts 6:5.

Obviously, there was peace amongst the brethren through their ministration. Filled with the Holy Ghost, his ministry was notable for signs and wonders, so much that people listened attentively to his preaching followed by healing and deliverance in Acts 8:8. Even, Simon, the sorcerer and the people of Samaria confessed that truly, he carried the power of God.

How much of God do you carry in you? Can people see you, listen to you and declare the same? Can you be listed among the men of honour, faith and wisdom as the seven deacons?

Can you quickly go on preaching with the manifestation of persecution right under your nose? Will you stand for Christ and Him alone even in a strange land? All of these questions and more will help you to do a self-evaluation to your ministry and service like Philip, if you must fulfill your divine calling.

Philip was ready to go for the Lord without hesitation!
He fulfilled his ministry without struggles. This happened simply because he was a man of humility and obedience. He obeyed the leading of the Holy Spirit without reservation. As soon as he was done with his divine assignment in Samaria, there was an angelic instruction to go to another place where the Holy Spirit had another assignment for him on the road leading to Gaza.

This was a divine direction and preparation for the gospel to reach out to Africa. Unknown to Philip, he had a divine appointment with the Ethiopian eunuch to explain to him what he was reading but had no understanding (Acts 8:30-31). He was a man of patience and deep understanding of God’s word.

He ended baptizing the Ethiopian eunuch after leading him to Christ. Beloved brother and sister, how well do you listen to or hear the Holy Spirit? Do you ever wait for God to lead you, or you go all the way just by yourself? Listen to the word of God in Prov. 3:5-7, if truly you’re a child of God, you will not lean on your own wisdom, strength or understanding.

Rather you will acknowledge God and He will direct your ways. That was what Philip did. Just that! He was a humble servant of God who simply take instructions and that was it. No wonder, he served successfully without struggles. May that be your portion, in the name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS:
