Almost 15 months of suspension, the
Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika has announced immediate resumption of catering services on domestic and international flights.
The services were suspended during the outbreak of COVID-19 as part of measures to curb the spread of the virus.
While the services were suspended, passengers were offered a bottle of water by some airlines.
The Minister disclosed this on Monday at the weekly briefing by members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
He explained that the decision was taken in consideration of the businesses that have been adversely affected by the suspension and comfort of passengers.
The Minister however noted the processes and procedures for the resumption of the services would be revealed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), which will be in line with international practices.
Meanwhile the Minister has announced that the reopening of Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu and the Port Harcourt International Airport for international flights were sacrosanct.
He said a simulation exercise would be conducted prior to the opening to ascertain the level of preparedness.
