Furthermore, reacting to the Wabba’s disclosure that the Court was built singlehandedly by workers of the union without taking any loan, Mustapha commending Nigerian workers for the building said he was more glad as the union only save costs but created jobs for those workers that took part in the construction.
He assured the Union that government will continue to support the cause of Nigerian workers as demonstrated in the signing of the National Minimum Wage Bill into law.
“I challenge all NLC members to emulate the courage in Ayuba Wabba and ensure that the Union achieve the desire objective. We will see how to work with the FCTA to improve the infrastructures of the NLC for optimum usage.“
Before he handed over the baton of leadership of NLC Comrade Ayuba Wabba explained that with this commissioning the Union has shown that NLC is not only known for agitation but is also good at managing resources and also wealth creation.
Wabba commended Executive members of the Union for supporting the idea behind the structure and also to for supporting the idea to name it after the founding father of NLC, Comrade Hassan Sunmonu.
“NLC is not only known in agitation but also good manager of resources. With such a gigantic three storey building built by the Union, it will further made the Union to fully be dependent on it own and would make it self-reliance and generator of revenue rather than depending on checkoff dues.”
The three-storey hotel that was built by the NLC is situated at 6 Edith Nnacheta street, Mabushi House.
Wabba said: “In tandem with our Manifesto, we have strengthened our union. Today, all the unions that left
our fold in 2015 are all back in the family stronger. From a modest trade union affiliation strength of 40 unions, we have grown to an affiliation coverage of 53 trade unions. The new affiliates would be formally adopted into our fold at this Delegates Conference. Furthermore,
for the first time, the first Joint NAC meeting of the NLC and TUC took place under our leadership to promote trade union unity.”
