National Grid again suffers first collapse in year 2025

Having suffered 13 times within 13 months, with only 11 days into the year 2025, National Grid has collapsed again after many hiccups it went through in year 2024.

According to the report gathered by allcitynews.ng at 4.35pm on Saturday 11 January 2025, the Nigerian national power grid experienced its first major disturbance in 2025.

The epileptic nature of the power grid reared its ugly head again on Saturday, January 11, 2025, resulting in blackout in several parts of the country.

The incident marks the 13th time the national grid has experienced a collapse in 13 months, making an average of one collapse per month.

Though the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and distribution companies are yet to officially confirm the development as the time of filing this report, checks showed that power generation dropped from 2111.01 megawatts as of 2 pm to 390.20 MW by 3 pm on 11 January 2025.

It would be recalled that few days ago a  suggestion came from some schools of thoughts, that called on Federal Government to man the National Grid with Nigerian Army, to forestall more collapse.
